Postnatal Support Services in Guildford and Surrey

Postnatal Ongoing Support

Postnatal Doulas provide practical, emotional and nurturing support to the whole family after the birth of a baby. Selecting a Doula is a very personal choice as we will be working closely together at a very vulnerable time. Here are a few ways I can help and support but please do get in touch to arrange a meeting or call to discuss the many ways I can help.

Ways I Can Offer Support As A Doula:

  • Give you confidence in caring for your baby.

  • Listen and help you reflect on your birth and postnatal experience.

  • Provide assurance and encouragement to you as a new parent.

  • Offer practical, and emotional support to the whole family.

  • Help you find time to rest and recover.

  • Support you to feed your baby, including offering help with breastfeeding and bottle feeding.

  • Signpost you to support networks such as baby groups, online groups or health care professionals.

  • Answer questions and address worries about your newborn

I am also happy to look after siblings, run errands, walk dogs, do light housework and cooking. I will look after your new baby and / or siblings so you can shower, rest or attend appointments.

I love being a Postnatal Doula, supporting families, working together using my experience to help parents become confident and happy is what I aim to achieve. I will always respect your parenting choices and am not in my role to judge. Most of all, I would like to be able to support you in your new and sometimes daunting journey of becoming a parent. I will do all I can to help and support you and your family in becoming confident and fulfilled with your new-born, until you no longer need me.

Wellbeing Sessions

What is a Wellbeing Session?

I offer one-off visits to go through all the questions and worries regarding your newborn. I will answer these to the best of my knowledge and refer you to appropriate medical professionals if needed. Having a baby is the most rewarding but also the hardest ‘job’!

Every mum has questions, worries and concerns that they are not doing the ‘right things’ for their newborn, especially at 3am! Let me help answer some of those questions, put your mind at ease and give you confidence and support on your new journey. We can discuss a wide range of concerns led by you around your own unique experience in becoming a parent.

Some questions you might have include the following:
        ⁃     breast/bottle feeding guidance
        ⁃     winding techniques
        ⁃     normal newborn sleep
        ⁃     settling techniques
⁃     how and when to bath your newborn
⁃     how to cut those tiny nails
⁃     appropriate clothing for the weather
        ⁃     general newborn behaviour

These sessions typically last 2 hours and I charge £50 per visit.

Breastfeeding Sessions

What is a Breastfeeding Session?

This session will involve a basic feeding assessment, including watching a feed, helping with positioning and discussing what good latch and milk transfer should look like.

If I can’t successfully help you or I think there are issues beyond my scope of knowledge I can give you details of local IBCLC’s (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants), as well as breastfeeding cafes and support networks.

I charge £30 per hour for these visits.
